Lesbianism refuses to stand by and let the gay guys hog the spotlight. In the wake of Brokeback Mountain's controversial yet sensitive approach to two guys getting it on in the wilderness, Fox Searchlight has released the trailer for their entry to the "are they/aren't they" genre: Imagine Me & You.
Piper Perabo has donned a British accent to play Rachel, a girl who is about to be married to Heck, the kind of guy any woman interested in a heterosexual relationship would kill to have. An old flame shows up at the ceremony and makes Rachel question whether she's doing the right thing. In fact it makes her question whether she's doing the right gender, wondering which way the pendulum of her biological clock really swings. This old flame is another woman and Rachel must decide whether to embrace Heck's masculinity or crush it.
Where Brokeback Mountain tackled the scenario with touchy-feely drama, Imagine Me & You is coming at it from the romantic comedy angle perhaps hoping to avoid controversy by keeping things light. The trailer is worth a few chuckles and no doubt Adam Carolla and gang will be getting all excited at the site of Piper Perabo and co-star Lena Headey jumping up and down together on an arcade dancing machine.
