Incredibles 2 Will Be Next For Brad Bird
It was in March of last year that Pixar finally announced that they were developing The Incredibles 2 as one of their upcoming projects - but what was left unclear was exactly when we can expect the sequel to be released. Well, if new comments from Incredibles director Brad Bird are any indication, it might be coming very soon. This is because he has confirmed that Incredibles 2 is the next film he will be focusing on.
It was during a recent interview with Collider that the Ratatouille filmmaker revealed his commitment towards his own superhero sequel. It had previously been confirmed that Brad Bird was developing the script for Incredibles 2, but when asked if it would be his next film, the director said,
The vagueness of this quote is definitely vexing. Is this a confirmation that Brad Bird will be making Incredibles 2 his main filmmaking focus now that he's completed Tomorrowland, or does it take things a step further and mean that he will be directing the film? I certainly want to hope that it's the latter, as it's only fitting that the man who created the super family be the one to take the helm of the next chapter.
Discussing his approach to the film, Bird also added that some of his ideas coming into the sequel actually originate as material he thought of while making The Incredibles, but simply couldn't make fit into the script. Bird explained,
At this point, nothing has been confirmed story-wise for The Incredibles 2, though Samuel L. Jackson has claimed that he will be back in the mix as the superhero Frozone. It will be interesting to see how the project will develop, it having been a decade since the first movie. Will the film pick up just shortly after the events of the original, featuring the likes of Dash, Violent and Jack-Jack still as kids, or will they have grown up a bit by the time the sequel's story starts?
While nothing is certain at this point, there's a good chance that we'll get an answer to all of our big Incredibles 2 questions later this summer. This is because Disney is set to host their semi-annual convention known as the D23 Expo in August, and it's during this event that they often make big announcements and reveals regarding upcoming projects. A big panel regarding all of the animated films coming from The Walt Disney Company has already been announced, so we'll just have to wait until August to see what they tell us about the movie.
