Insidious Chapter 2 Coming To Theaters Next Summer
Just last week it was announced that the upcoming sequel to The Last Exorcism, creatively titled The Last Exorcism Part II, will be heading to theaters in March 2013, and now yet another successful horror movie from 2010 has gotten some big news for it's follow-up.
FilmDistrict, Alliance Films and Sony Pictures Worldwide Acquisitions have announced that the James Wan-directed sequel, titled Insidious Chapter 2, will be in theaters on August 30, 2013. While the last half of August is usually pretty dead, this year the movie actually faces a good deal of competition. Already set to be released that weekend is the legal thriller Closed Circuit with Eric Bana and Rebecca Hall; Getaway with Ethan Hawke and Selena Gomez; the One Direction Concert Movie, and the Weinstein's competing horror film Satanic starring Haley Bennett. Patrick Wilson, Rose Byrne, Lin Shaye, and Ty Simpkins are all set to reprise their roles from the firstmovie as Leigh Whannell is once again handling script duties, but no plot details are mentioned in the release.
Jason Blum, a producer on the project and owner of Blumhouse Productions, said in a statement, "Blumhouse is committed to empowering filmmakers to tell their stories and we are excited to do that once again with the team from the first Insidious including James and Leigh and the original cast. We also look forward to working with our partners on the first film- FilmDistrict, Alliance and Sony."
In addition to the Insidious sequel, Wan also recently worked on the ghost flick The Conjuring, which will be released by Warner Bros. on July 19, 2013.
