It's Mean Girls Day - Seriously, Here's Why...
It's Mean Girls Day! What? You already knew that? You go, Glen Coco. You know a film has hit classic status when it has its own day. Empire Records has Rex Manning Day. Mean Girls has the more obviously titled Mean Girls Day, which is apparently a thing. Why? Because it's October 3rd. And that's the day Aaron Samuels told Cady Heron that it's October 3rd...
Yup, that's apparently all it took to solidify October 3rd as Mean Girls Day. We'll take it.
As if to make the matter even more official, Paramount had the fetch idea to put the digital copy of the film on sale today, marked down to $11.99 from $14.99...
Of course, if you're willing to wait for shipping, you can get the DVD for the low-low price of $4.99 (Blu-ray is just under $10). And it's available to rent digitally through Amazon, iTunes and other online streaming services.
On the topic of special movie-themed dates, there's the mentioned Rex Manning Day, which Empire Records fans celebrate on April 8! Groundhog Day is February 2. Of course, that's an actual recognized annual event that extends beyond Groundhog Day, but for many of us, it's an excuse to watch Bill Murray get caught in a time-loop. And of course, there's October 21, 2015, which is the date Marty McFly arrives in the future in Back to the Future II. It's not exactly an annual event -- unless you include the doctored memes that occasionally circulate -- but we're coming up on the one-year countdown for the actual day. If Back to the Future II told us the truth, we should all be wearing our clothes inside out and cruising on hover boards by that point. Win.
In the meantime, focusing on right now, let's all take a moment to celebrate Cady Heron's not-so-slow transformation from awkward home-schooled new girl to full-on Regina-George-obsessed mean girl. Throw some toaster strudel in the toaster and put on your favorite army pants and flip flops, or maybe some lingerie. And get your mom to snap some adorable photos...
Just don't forget the animal ears, because... duh!
