Jennifer Lopez’s next big romantic comedy, Plan B has nabbed a director in TV veteran Alan Poul. Paul served as the executive producer of Six Feet Under for five seasons and is now making the difficult transition from legit television show to ridiculous sounding romantic comedy. Only the best of directors could pull a great movie out of this pile of ingredients. Lets hope Poul is one of those directors.
Variety reports that the picture will begin shooting in May, and is scheduled to be finished by January 2010. Poul will be in the director’s chair with Kate Angelo on the script. In addition to producing Six Feet Under, Poul directed episodes of the show, as well as Big Love, Rome and Swingtown..
Plan B is the story of a woman whose biological clock starts ticking too loud, so she decides to go for some artificial insemination. On the day that she tests positive for pregnancy, she meets the man of her dreams. Is it me or does this sound like a blander version of Baby Mama?
If you’re going to make a movie about a single woman having a baby, I think it’s best if you check and make sure that the title isn’t the same as the name of a popular contraceptive device commonly known at “the morning after pill.” But, it seems that the writers of this project didn’t... or maybe they just don’t mind.
