I’ve been waiting on pins and needles for the next game of “what I really want to do is direct.” This week’s winner is Jada Pinkett Smith, famous actress and wife. Pinkett Smith will direct the drama The Human Contract. She also wrote the script and will cook all of the meals during the shoot. Variety says production will start this week.
Pinkett Smith’s script is about a successful businessman who meets a free-spirited woman. Not the most original of plots, but it does provide a fairly wide canvas for Pinkett Smith to work on. She will not act in the movie, leaving that to such big names as Jason Clarke, Paz Vega, and Idris Elba. Ted Danson also has a role, potentially named “The Actor You’ve Actually Heard Of.”
This movie will be Pinkett’s Smith directorial debut, unless you count husband Will Smith’s music videos, which I don’t. She has written for television, but this is also her feature film writing debut. Smith will be on hand as an executive producer. No word on if they will shove their kid into the production somehow.
