Japanese Avengers Trailer Reveals New Footage And Maria Hill Actually Speaking
Though all the marketing for The Avengers worldwide is still sticking to the same general scenes and themes, the new Japanese trailer for the movie, which debuted today at Yahoo! Japan, actually does manage to show off a few new sights. There's lines of dialogue we haven't seen before, some different shots of the big New York fight scene, and an appearance from Pepper Potts, who we pretty much knew to expect in the movie, but hasn't made an appearance so far. If you've been wondering, like I have, why we haven't heard a word from Cobie Smulders as Agent Maria Hill, she actually gets a word in edgewise this time too. Take a look at all of it below.
The overall beats of the trailer are extremely similar to what we saw in the most recent domestic trailer, but the new shots of the same scenes are pretty impressive-- I especially like the shot of Black Widow and Hawkeye in some kind of flying ship, headed directly toward Grand Central Station. Unlike the constantly shifting trailers for John Carter, Disney seems to know exactly what they have with The Avengers, and even though the consistency in these trailers mean we're seeing the same stuff over and over again, it means the studio knows what they have is good. I'd much rather be confident about that than see a new shot of Loki kicking somebody's ass.
The Avengers will be kicking off summer movie season way sooner than you think, with a May 4 release date in the United States. With so few days left to wait, we really, really are ready for this movie to get here.
