Jared Leto As The Oldest Man On Earth
To the millions of women who swoon every time he shows up anywhere, Jared Leto is hardly a nobody. But to Belgian director Dormael, he’s Mr. Nobody.
I apologize of the cheesiness of that intro.
The story here from Hollywood Reporter is that Leto has been cast in a movie set in a not-so-distant future and follows 120-year-old Nemo Nobody (Leto) as the last mortal left on Earth, surrounded by a planet full of immortals. The movie has him reliving real and imaginary years of marriage. I’m not exactly sure what that means, but it’s supposed to be inspired by the chaos theory, or the butterfly effect so eloquently explained by Ian Malcolm in Jurassic Park and then tested by Ashton Kutcher in The Butterfly Effect.
The concept is very high concept and a little confusing, but it could be very cool, maybe something in the vein of Children of Men? That’s just what I have in my head. They’ve got a $40 - $50 million budget, and Sarah Polley to co-star. Whatever it is this is more than just some little high-concept indie.
