Jason Patric, who let us never forget starred in Speed 2: Cruise Control, seems to be holding his nose as he takes a role in The Losers, the Warner Bros. adaptation of the DC comic book. Announcing that he'd be playing a rogue CIA agent in the film, Patric told Variety "Let's face it, the geeks have inherited the world, and if you want to be a player in this system, you have to be willing to do some of this."

Oh, so you're "willing" to do some of this, and by "some of this" you mean act in a movie based on a comic book, which has been the source material for about half of the most successful movies of the last decade. He's "willing" to take the role just like Heath Ledger was willing to take on the Joker, or Hugh Jackman has been willing to throw his entire showman personality into Wolverine, or Jackie Earle Haley made himself a fanboy god with his portrayal of Rorschach. Yup, playing a comic book character is a real sacrifice these days.

The Losers sounds like it could be a pretty interesting movie, even, with Jefrey Dean Morgan, Idris Elba, Zoe Saldana and Chris Evans playing the black ops CIA team that Patric's character targets to be killed. But with Patric grudgingly putting himself in the center as the villain, should his lack of enthusiasm inspire us to care?
