The re-teaming of Jon Favreau and Vince Vaughn in the comedy Couples Retreat is probably generating some excitement around your house. As we noted back in September, Favreau wrote the script and Vaughn is producing with both former Swingers in the cast. We also reported earlier this month, the casting was almost complete.
Now, according to Variety, the final casting piece is in place. Jean Reno will play the owner and therapist of a couple’s resort. The couples who visit the resort are required to attend therapy and much hilarity ensues, presumably. Vaughn and Favreau will be joined by Jason Bateman, Kristen Bell, Malin Akerman, and Kristin Davis as the couples.
The movie is being directed by Ralphie himself, Peter Billingsley. Reno, of course, has previous comic experience with The Pink Panther, which does not exactly make me feel good about this movie. The cast on the whole looks good, though, and I can’t avoid Favreau, who is always excellent.
