Jeff Daniels Will Talk To God
Our Steve West loved Arlen Faber when he saw it at Sundance, calling it "a heartfelt shout to the world that even those who appear to have the answers are as lost as the rest of us." Now the rest of us can see what all the fuss is about; Magnolia has picked up the film for domestic distribution, according to Variety.
In the film Jeff Daniels plays Faber, an author who wrote a book 20 years ago called Me & God, and apparently changed spirituality for the better. These days, though, he doesn't like all the attention the book got him, and really doesn't want to help out Kris (Lou Taylor Pucci), a local bookstore owner who goes to Faber for answers when he gets out of rehab. Tossed into the mix as well is Elizabeth (Lauren Graham), a single mom who is also Faber's chiropractor. Sounds like classic, quirky Sundance stuff to me-- and just intriguing enough for me to catch it when it comes out.
