Jenna Fischer Teams With John C. Reilly
Now that I’m 30 and starting to ripen, I’m probably too old for crushes. I guess getting older means crushes become creepy obsessions. Whatever they are, I’ve got one for Jenna Fischer, big time. I’ll put up with anything if she’s in it. I actually sat through a half hour red carpet segment on E! the other day, just because they promised that at some point she’d show up. Imagine that, a grown, heterosexual male watching Entertainment Television. That just ain’t right.
While other primary ‘Office’ castmembers have been using it as a launching pad to big film careers, Jenna hasn’t really had her big movie role yet. She had what amounted to a cameo in Slither, but even that was because the film was directed by her husband.
Finally, that’s about to change. Variety reports that Jenna has signed to star opposite John C. Reilly in a comedy directed by Jake Kasdan called Walk Hard. Better still, Kasdan wrote the script with my current comedy hero Judd Apatow. Take a moment and savor this. Jenna Fischer in a Judd Apatow comedy with John C. Reilly. Seriously, I think I had a dream about this last night.
Walk Hard is the pseudo Walk the Line parody that we’ve been hearing John C. Reilly is working on. Jenna Fischer is playing a June Carter-like love interest named Darlene while Reilly plays a Cash-like troubled music legend. Excuse me a moment, I need to get in line for tickets.
