Joan Rivers: A Piece Of Work Picked Up By IFC
Joan Rivers: A Piece of Work was one of the films I most regretted missing at Sundance this year. I really should have known based on the title that it was worth catching-- a documentary about Joan Rivers with a plastic surgery joke in the title? Sold! But I missed it, and I'm sure just to placate me, IFC has now picked up the film so I'll have a chance to see it after all.
According to the press release, IFC plans to release Ricki Stern and Annie Sundberg's film in theaters this summer, quite possibly in tandem with their IFC On Demand program as well. The movie documents a year in the life of Joan Rivers, who apparently is legitimately one of the hardest-working people in show business at 76 years of age. There aren't many actors I'd willing pay to see a puff piece about, but Rivers is certainly one of them. Thanks for keeping me in the loop, IFC.
