John Boyega Surprised Fans At New York Star Wars Screenings
After all of the nail-biting anticipation, press tours, and an aggressive marketing campaign, Star Wars: The Force Awakens finally made its way to theaters this weekend. Of course, odds are you probably already know that because the movie has absolutely annihilated the box office in the days since its release. Now that the cast knows they pulled it off and did a good job, most of them have decided to sit back, relax, and enjoy their much-needed rest – except for John Boyega. Check out one of his latest posts to Instagram below.
Heroic Hollywood reports that the actor decided to pay a visit to some eager fans at New York screenings of The Force Awakens and, as can be expected, the crowd went nuts. As you can see from the video above, he seems just as excited to be in that crowded auditorium as everyone else, sprinting through the theaters in an attempt to engage with as many people as possible before the screenings officially commence.
Over the course of one night, the actor went to several different screenings of the film at various theaters across the city. At each one he rushed through the crowd, gave a little speech, and spoke to eager fans in the audience awestruck to have seen and met him. John Boyega's excitement for the film has been palpable over the last few months, showing a sort of giddy optimism at all of his press events. Even his reaction to The Force Awakens’ trailers very much mirrored our own: unbridled enthusiasm and absolute excitement. In his posts he also takes the time to thank the theater chains for allowing him the opportunity to meet the people who will undoubtedly make him a household name very soon.
Boyega is far from the only actor in The Force Awakens to make the film’s release something special. Over the last few months, pretty much every actor in the film – from newcomers like Daisy Ridley to the old guard of Carrie Fisher and Harrison Ford – have taken it upon themselves to seemingly have as much fun as possible with the marketing and press events for the film. This effort has paid off, as their apparent enjoyment of this process has added to the concept that Star Wars: The Force Awakens is a film for Star Wars fans by Star Wars fans.
While not all of us are going to get the chance to meet John Boyega or the rest of the cast of the film, we all have the opportunity to go to the movies and watch them bring us back to the galaxy far, far away. Star Wars: The Force Awakens is currently in theaters and has only further whetted our appetites for what future episodes of the Star Wars franchise have in store for us fans.
