Judd Gets Depressed For Helen
Ashley Judd may have a face worthy of launching a thousand ships, but she’s not playing Helen of Troy in Helen, which Variety announces Judd has signed on to. The picture, written and directed by Sandra Nettelbeck, will put Judd as a music professor and mother suffering from severe depression.
The movie’s story is bound to be another one of those Dead Poet’s Society style inspirational tales, although it might be more of a reversal, as Judd’s character only finds help for her depression from a student who can relate to the debilitating illness.
No other cast members have been announced for Helen yet, but filming starts in just under a month (October 2nd), so either Judd is the movie’s only prominent name and this movie will disappear from sight (Nettelbeck isn’t exactly well known in primary markets), or we’ll be hearing some more casting news really soon.
