It’s no secret that I’m one of Cinema Blend’s big Juno champions. It was a funny freakin’ movie and deserves all of its money and accolades. I hope that director Jason Reitman and star Ellen Page become successful and hugely popular and each get their own car and island. Ok, not really, but I like both the movie and Page; she’s a real talent.
According to Variety, Page is going to take that real talent and pretend to be a 19th century orphan and governess in yet another adaptation of Jane Eyre. The Charlotte Bronte novel has been adapted for the small and big screen 20 times, including just last year for television, but we can always do with one more, right? This time a script has been written by British playwright Moira Buffini, which sorta sounds like a pretend name.
None of the other cast or a director has been chosen, but they will get this show on the road sometime in the fall. The film will be produced by the guy behind The Other Boleyn Girl, which I don’t think did very well. Maybe this one will do a little better. I can’t imagine going to see it, but with Ellen Page involved, who knows.
