Next week will see the release of Stoker, director Chan-wook Park's thriller that premiered at this year's Sundance Film Festival, but the truth is that there are still a few members of the Class of 2012 that we've yet to see. One among them is Kate Aselton's horror thriller Black Rock. The film received some positive buzz out of the Park City festival last year and despite a deal with LD Distribution the film has not yet found its way to theaters.
But that will be changing in the next couple months. After a long wait the film finally has a release date, now set to arrive in a cinema near you on May 17th, and to kick off the marketing push we have a brand new poster, which was released over at Entertainment Weekly. Aselton's second directorial effort following 2010's The Freebie and written by Mark Duplass, Black Rock stars her, Lake Bell and Kate Bosworth as three childhood friends who decide to reunite for a weekend on an island off the coast of Maine. While enjoying their time in the remote locale they run into a group of men who seem innocent enough at first, but soon reveal themselves as a very real threat, leaving the friends to fight for their lives.
