Kate Hudson Joins Zach Braff's Wish I Was Here

Though better associated for her feature roles, Kate Hudson's recent credits include a recurring role on Fox's musical dramedy Glee. But it looks like she'll be headed back to the big screen as the Almost Famous star has been cast to play Zach Braff's wife in Wish I Was Here, the film which earned itself a green light through a successful Kickstarter campaign.

Braff's planned film centers on Aidan, a married man, father of two and struggling actor, who passes the time daydreaming about being a futuristic Space-Knight. As money is tight, he and his wife have to pull their kids out of private school. Aidan decides to home school them, which leads to some interesting and imaginative life lessons, from the sound of it.

Via Variety, Braff announced the latest bit of casting news today, stating that Kate Hudson will play the role of Sarah, his character's wife in the film. In addition to Braff, Hudson joins previously cast Mandy Patinkin, Josh Gad, Anna Kendrick, Jim Parsons and Donald Faison in the movie. That's a pretty fantastic line-up for the film, which has already surpassed its Kickstarter goal and is backed my more than 40,000 fans. There are still three days left on the ticker, so if you want to back it, better get on it.

From Braff's announcement, it sounds like he and Hudson are friends, which should hopefully help with their chemistry as an on-screen married couple. Hudson's most recent screen work has had her showing off her singing and dancing abilities as Rachel's teacher Cassandra July on Fox's Glee. Coming up, in addition to Braff's film, she was recently cast in Henrik Genz's thriller Good People.

Hudson's Wish I Was Here character is featured in this character design sketch. Sarah is all the way to the left, holding into that Becker Longboard.
