Katniss Looks Ready To Fight In This New Hunger Games: Mockingjay Poster
The Mockingjay looks ready for war in the new teaser poster of The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 1. The new poster, which just arrived today, shows off the back of Jennifer Lawrence's brave character, who's armed with her trusted bow and arrows, her dark hair in its signature single braid. It looks like this Mockingjay is dressed in her battle gear and ready to show Panem that she's alive and ready to lead the resistance against the Capitol.
The poster was shared on the Hunger Games Facebook page, along with the caption, "Our Leader the Mockingjay arrives on 9/10." The movie itself doesn't debut until November 21, so that September 10 date may be an indication that there's a new trailer on the way, if not the character poster that shows Katniss from the front. One that perhaps shows Katniss Everdeen in full Mockinjay attire.
We got our first look at Katniss in The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 1 in the teaser trailer that debuted during Comic-Con. But that Katniss was looking a bit less certain and a lot less battle-ready than the one we're glimpsing in the photo above. Since then, a number of character posters have arrived, showing off some of the other rebels, complete with the Mockinjay's wings spread out behind them.
Based on the final book in Suzanne Collins' Hunger Games series, Mockingjay is being split into two parts, with the first part set to arrive this November. Part 2 will debut around the same time next year (November 20, 2015).
After Part 2 debuts next year, assuming the interest in Hunger Games hasn't died down, we'll either all move on to the next big young adult franchise, or perhaps someone will come up with some kind of Hunger Games prequel TV series, set in Panem in the years well before Katniss's time. The world Suzanne Collins has designed seems like it would be rich with story opportunities, especially in the years between when the Hunger Games were first implemented and the day Katniss was selected to participate. Maybe an anthology series that focuses on someone from a different district each season? Just spitballing here.
In the meantime, we have two more movies to anticipate, the first of which will bring us back to Panem to find out what happened to Katniss after the Quarter Quell. Where was she taken? What happened to Peeta? And most importantly, does Katniss really have some fight left in her? We'll find out in November. And as mentioned, something is coming on September 10.
