Kennedys Approve Of Estevez
Emilio Estevez’s new movie Bobby has already gotten a big seal of approval from Hollywood, after all half the town is in it. But now he’s adding on more official accolades, from the family of Robert Kennedy himself.
The movie tells the stories of people nearby when Bobby Kennedy was assassinated, with the help of a huge, star-studded cast. The Weinstein shot us a press release today in which they tout the Kennedy family’s reaction to the movie.
Mrs. Robert F. Kennedy says, “Our family is grateful to Emilio Estevez and the extraordinary cast of Bobby for remembering Robert Kennedy's life and his commitment to social justice, peace and equality. Hopefully the film will inspire a new generation to make gentle the life of the world.”
Kerry Kennedy says, “Younger generations will now hear Robert Kennedy's words, they will understand the greatness of his life and find the inspiration to dedicate themselves to all he sought to achieve.”
The interesting thing here is that from everything we’ve seen so far from the film, Bobby will actually figure into it only peripherally. He won’t be a primary character in the story, rather the movie is about people impacted by him. Though he’s barely in it the Kennedy’s seem to be saying the movie is almost a tribute to him, which could mean that Emilio has come up with something special indeed.
