Kevin Lima Is Enchanted
Walt Disney Pictures has hired director Kevin Lima (Tarzan) to direct a romantic fable called Enchanted, a live-action and CG-animated feature. There will be nobody named Ella present.
According to Empire Online, the film is about a wannabe-princess named Giselle, who is banished from the world of Andalasia and shipped off to the city full of single women, New York. In fairy tale movie-land, that is considered a crime worse than homocide. Will the outcast princess find love, or at least a discount on strappy sandals?
Bill Kelly, who has been working on the script for the past seven years, will bring the script to cinematic life. The lead characters in the film will include the princess, her lover, and an evil queen responsible for sending her to the city that never sleeps. No actors or voices are yet attached to the movie.
Shrek has paved the way for cynical fairy tales that think outside of the box. Perhaps Enchanted will have the fervor to become its female counterpart.
