Kieran Culkin Is The Best Friend
Kieran Culkin has been under the radar since his fascinating turn in 2002 as the tumultuous teen, Igby, in Igby Goes Down, but he’s about to resurface. HitFix reports that Culkin will play the gay best friend to Michael Cera’s Scott Pilgrim in the upcoming film, Scott Pilgrim vs. the World. The film is based on the popular graphic novel series by Bryan Lee O’Malley.
As the sidekick, Culkin’s character, Wallace Wells, sleeps in the same bed as the heterosexual Scott, but there is most certainly no funny business. Wallace is the more serious of the two friends and is known for his wry commentary on society. The plot of the film follows the two as they fight the seven evil ex-boyfriends of Scott’s love interest, Ramona V. Flowers (played by Mary Elizabeth Winstead). HitFix reports that production of the flick begins in the spring.
The recently hibernating Culkin seems to be coming back on the scene with a vengeance. The star has four films coming out within the next year. He will be in Paper Man which will costar Ryan Reynolds and Emma Stone, Lymelife, which will play in Sundance this year, Margaret, a Kenneth Lonergan film and he will also appear in Three Stories About Joan, which is directed by Bruce Willis. This little Culkin is getting busy!
