Kirsten Dunst Ready To Go On The Road
Kirsten Dunst may know a thing about road trips. After all, she sent Orlando Bloom on a totally confusing and needless one (with soundtrack to boot) at the end of the nightmare that was Elizabethtown. Now, according to Variety, Dunst will take her remedial acting skills on the road again in the upcoming adaptation of Jack Kerouac’s On the Road.
Is it fitting that an overrated actress is set to star in the adaptation of an overrated book, or is that just coincidence? I’d say a combination of both. Dunst will join director Walter Salles (The Motorcycle Diaries) in the long-planned movie being produced by Francis Ford Coppolla.
Sam Riley (Control) as Sal Paradise, Garrett Hedlund (Four Brothers) as Dean Moriarty and Kristen Stewart (Twilight anyone?) as Mary Lou are already cast in Kerouac’s disillusioned look at life in America during the 1950’s. No word on who Dunst will play, but with any luck she doesn’t feel the need to make some random mixtape, complete with roadmap of various American sites in order to help Paradise “find himelf.” On the Road is pointless enough already.
Filming for On the Road is set to start in August.
