Knight Riding Into Movies

Grab the black jacket, the communicator watch and punch the turbo boost. “Knight Rider” is definitely on its way back to the big screen according to today’s Hollywood Reporter, but additional news is sparse. Considering we’ve been reporting about the on again/off again big screen adaptation for years now, this is nothing new. The only real piece of news here is that, according to movie mogul Harvey Weinstein, they’ve gone straight to the source of the original ‘80s series and asked “Knight Rider” creator Glen A. Larson to write and produce the film, which hopefully will begin filming next year.

I remain staunch in my position that the only way this movie will work is if David Hasslehoff and William Daniels return in the roles they made famous. Nobody but Daniels can pull off the condescending ego of K.I.T.T., and I have no interest watching Owen or Luke Wilson attempting to play Michael Knight, the man with no past… unless it means Owen will get a nose job as part of the identity change given to Knight.
