Kristen Wiig May Reteam With Will Ferrell For Welcome To Me
Kristen Wiig is playing the romantic interest to Steve Carell's character in the upcoming Anchorman: The Legend Continues, but it seems that the Bridesmaids star really hit it off with Will Ferrell on the set of the new comedy - to the point where they've already lined up a new project to do together.
Wiig is now in talks to reteam with the Step Brothers star in the upcoming indie Welcome To Me, which is also set to be produced by Ferrell and Anchorman director Adam McKay through their Gary Sanchez Productions label. Set to be directed by Shira Piven, who directed the 2011 comedy Fully Loaded, the new movie is about a woman with dissociative personality disorder - a.k.a. split personalities - who wins the lottery and uses the money to fund a cable access show about her life. The Hollywood Reporter, which broke the story, says that the script was written by Eliot Laurence, who previously served as a writer on the Oxygen series The Big Gay Sketch Show. The trade doesn't mention when production may start on the project, but presumably it won't happen at least until the Anchorman sequel has finished filming.
After being largely absent from blockbusters last year, Wiig is actually set to have a big 2013. In addition to Anchorman: The Legend Continues, she's also playing the female lead in Ben Stiller's remake of The Secret Life of Walter Mitty, and will have her voice featured in Despicable Me 2. She will also soon be seen alongside Bill Hader in the dramedy The Skeleton Twins, though that project doesn't have a release date yet.
