The Kylo Ren And Han Solo Memes Are Even Better Than You'd Guess

Nobody is having more fun with Star Wars: The Force Awakens than social media. At this point, pretty much every character in the film has his or her own high-profile Twitter account. One of the first was the Emo Kylo Ren account, which sets up the leader of the Knights of Ren as an emo millennial who’s dark and brooding and hates his family, in the same way an angry teenager does. Now a new series of memes has taken this idea to the next level, giving us an idea what it was like in the Solo household before Ben murdered everybody and left town.

By taking clips of Harrison Ford and Adam Driver in other movies, and putting them together with new dialogue, we get the distinct impression that Han Solo was really glad when Ben finally left town, because raising him had to be a pain in the ass. The movie gives you the impression that Han and Leia, realizing the darkness in their son, was the most terrible thing imaginable. It destroyed the family’s entire relationship. Here, it’s portrayed instead as just being annoying. "Our son thinks he’s a goth and wants us to call him Kylo Ren, when will he grow out of this phase?"

The best part is actually the clips of Adam Driver that are being used. They set him up as a guy who knows exactly how crazy he is driving his parents. Kids like to rebel against their parents, and so Ben Solo went Dark Side not because he embraced it in any way, but rather just because he knew his parents would hate it. Basically, he became Kylo Ren for the same reason you started listening to Black Sabbath.

Unlike the other major villains of the Star Wars saga, Kylo Ren did not have his emotions under control. He had a tendency to lash out in anger and to have violent outbursts when things did not go his way. While this made him a new and unique character within the canon, it also looked remarkably like a child throwing a temper tantrum. Whether you thought Kylo Ren was a great villain, or an awful one, these are still hilarious. You can find the complete collection on Tumblr.
