The Last Exorcism Part II Poster Strikes A Crucifixion Pose
When a horror movie earns $67 million worldwide on a reported budget of $1.8M, the word “last” gets ignored.
Ed Gass-Donnelly’s The Last Exorcism Part II continues the story of possessed teen girl Nell Sweetzer (Ashley Bell) as she tries to recover from the events of the first film. As we get closer to the March 1 release date, CBS Films is unleashing a flood of information surrounding the new sequel to fill fans in on what’s to be expected. First up, a new TV spot sets up the barest plot points:
I really, really don’t like that creepy person in the Mardi Gras mask. Unnerving. It looks like Nell will turn to two factors – doctors and the religious – to help her exorcise the last bits of demon that might still be in her body. I’m extremely upset that we won’t get more of Cotton Marcus (Patrick Fabian), the skeptical cleric who visited Nell to prove to the world that exorcisms were fake. Fabian was a charismatic figure who helped carry the initial film. That pressure now falls to Bell.
After the body-twisting first poster, Collider added new photos and Just Jared posted a new one-sheet that strikes a crucifixion pose. The sequel abandons the “found footage” genre completely, and will try to build on its audience the way horror franchises like Paranormal Activity and V/H/S have managed to do in recent years. The sequel arrives in theaters on March 1.
