The Last Stand's Zach Gilford Signs On For Devil's Due

In his post-Friday Night Lights years, Zach Gilford hasn't had the hit we might have hoped from the promising actor. Both TV shows in which he starred were cancelled in or after their first seasons, and the action thriller The Last Stand, which starred Arnold Schwarzenegger and released last January, has grossed just $12 million domestically at the box office, falling short of its estimated $45 million budget, even when factoring in its worldwide gross to date. Fortunately, for those of us who loved Gilford in his role as the sweet Matt Saracen in Friday Night Lights, the actor continues to line up projects, the most recent of which is Devil's Due.

There hasn't been a lot of information released about the film just yet, however, Deadline says 20th Century Fox thriller starts shooting next week in Dominican Republic and New Orleans, and that it's set to be helmed by Radio Silence, the team that consists of Tyler Gillett, Chad Villella, Matt Dettinelli-Olpin and Justin Martinez and directed the last segment of V/H/S. While the plot of the film hasn't been disclosed yet, there will be a found footage element to it.

Gilford joins Terra Nova's Allison Miller in the film. Miller's recent credits include NBC's Go On and the short-lived NBC drama Kings. Gilford, meanwhile, played a doctor in both ABC's Off the Map and Fox's The Mob Doctor. Unfortunately, neither show went the distance, but on the bright side, their cancellations likely freed the actor up for more feature roles, which may just be the right direction for him right now. In addition to the mentioned series, Gilford's film credits in recent years include Crazy Kind of Love and Brian Savelson's In Our Nature.
