The Latest On Dylan O'Brien And The Status Of Maze Runner 3

Filmmaking isn’t just difficult; it can prove downright dangerous at times. Dylan O’Brien sadly found that out the hard way yesterday when he suffered a serious accident on the set of the latest installment in The Maze Runner series. We fans have had to sit idly by as minimal information has come forward – hoping and praying that the situation will get better for the young actor. Luckily James Dashner, author of The Maze Runner books, has provided us with some new updates regarding Dylan O’Brien’s condition and the future of The Maze Runner: The Death Cure.

The Maze Runner author took to Twitter to reassure anxious fans that the young actor’s condition had stabilized, and that Dylan O’Brien’s injuries are not life threatening. The 24-year-old actor suffered multiple broken bones during a freak accident on set, which involved him getting run over by a car while filming an action sequence for the third Maze Runner film, The Maze Runner: The Death Cure.

One of the things that makes The Maze Runner films stand out above the rest of the Young Adult franchises that continue to saturate the movie industry is Dylan O’Brien’s commitment to the franchise. Throughout The Maze Runner, and The Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials, the young up-and-coming actor wholeheartedly committed himself to the physically demanding stunts, as well as the dramatic nature of his role as Thomas.

20th Century FOX seems to have realized how integral Dylan O’Brien is to the success of the franchise, because James Dashner would go on to reassure fans that The Death Cure would postpone production until the young actor could return:

Filmmaker Wes Ball, who is directing The Maze Runner: The Death Cure, also left a note to his Twitter followers to update them on the situation:

At the end of the handwritten note, Wes Ball says:

Dylan is going to be just fine. After a few weeks of rest and recovery, he'll be back up and running to finish our adventure together.

While a terribly unfortunate event has occurred, it seems that the dust has settled and Dylan O’Brien will ultimately be fine. We wish him a speedy recovery, because we’re actually incredibly excited for the next installment in The Maze Runner series. We will bring you any and all information related to The Maze Runner: The Death Cure, as well as any relevant developments concerning O’Brien’s current condition as they become available to us.
