New Legend Of Tarzan Trailer Has Shirtless Alexander Skarsgard, Feisty Margot Robbie
The story of Tarzan is one about the conflict between nature and civilization. The new trailer for this summer’s The Legend of Tarzan doesn’t simply imply this conflict but, in fact, shows nature literally attacking a city. The new movie, staring Alexander Skarsgard in the title role, promises plenty of the action you’d expect from a Tarzan movie, check out the new trailer below.
The thing that we truly learn from The Legend of Tarzan trailer, is that this film has a lot of ground to cover. Everything that we know about the plot tells us that the film focuses on John Clayton III, after he has left the jungle and begun to acclimate to life as a civilized man. He then will return to the jungle at the behest of his government in order to influence trade with the Congo.
However, this trailer also shows us that we will see the origin story of the character. We see his parents living in the jungle and raising their baby before circumstances, exactly what they are is unclear, lead to Tarzan becoming an orphan and being raised by the apes. While this sequence may be the briefest of opening sequences, or perhaps a flashback upon the return to the jungle, this implies that we will see something of the characters entire upbringing. The John Hurt voice over is all about him going back to live among men. There’s a lot to go over before we get to the film’s main plot. This movie could end up being very long, or very rushed.
The vast majority of what we see of Tarzan is of him as the character we know, moving through the jungle, wearing little more than a loin cloth. This is of course what people go to a Tarzan movie to see. It’s been like that since the days of Johnny Weissmuller. Our other main character is Jane. She and Tarzan (Alexander Skarsgard) are already married in this movie so it’s possible the thing we won’t see is them getting to know each other. While everything we’ve seen of Margot Robbie’s character in the trailers shows her under the control of Christoph Waltz, it’s clear that she won’t be a passive victim. The actress has talked about how she wanted to make Jane a more modern character, and we do see some of that here.
For fans of classic adventure stories The Legend of Tarzan looks to have all the thrills that you would expect to see. With a director like Harry Potter’s David Yates, who has some experience working with fantastic stories, there’s a good chance this could bring a new life to the over 100-year-old character. Will you be going swinging through the jungle with Tarzan this summer?
