Leo Tells You What To Do

You’d think that with Earth Day firmly in the rear view mirror, we could forget about stuff like the environment, global warming, and Birkenstocks and get back to driving our Hummers three blocks to pick up a quart of milk. Well, Leonardo DiCaprio has other ideas. Leo is an actor, which means he knows stuff about things. One of the things Leo knows is that if he makes a documentary about the environment, someone will see it.

Variety says that not only will someone see DiCaprio’s documentary, The 11th Hour but that some companies have agreed to distribute it. Warner’s Independent Pictures, a company which, considering their name, has no sense of irony, has said they will release the movie domestically in the fall. It will have a premier at Cannes this month. That’s pretty cool since I’m a lot older than DiCaprio and I don’t have anything appearing at Cannes this month.

Leo helped write the script for the documentary with co-directors Leila Conners Petersen and Nadia Conners. He also narrated and produced a look at how humans can save the planet before it’s just too damn late. Warner’s marketing executives said the documentary is a “compelling exploration of not only the critical importance of climate change but also the myriad global challenges that we face today." Of course, marketing people for the distribution company seem a little biased. Still, I’m not sure what to do about the myriad global challengers, so I’m glad an actor is going to tell me.
