Les Miserables Clip Shows Amanda Seyfried And Eddie Redmayne Singing A Sweet Duet

There are a lot of stories tied together in Les Miserables. Among them, the budding romance of Cosette and Marius. The two characters, played by Amanda Seyfried and Eddie Redmayne, are featured in the latest clip released for Tom Hooper's upcoming feature film, based on the stage musical adaptation of Victor Hugo's novel.

Les Miserables is about a lot of things, including stories of hardship, determination, revolution, hope and tragedy. And at its core, there's a love story between two young people. The clip below shows the introduction of Cosette to Marius as they meet through an iron gate.

I'll admit, Marius and Cosette aren't my favorite romantic couple in musical existence. I have a tendency to root for the underdogs and in the case of the people featured in the above clip, that would be Eponine (Samantha Barks), the girl glimpsed watching on as her friend falls for the well dressed and cared for Cosette. Granted, Cosette didn't always have it easy, but it's hard not to feel for Eponine, who pines for Marius, only to witness him fall in love at first sight with Cosette.

The above said, I love how Seyfried and Redmayne play this scene. They're not just singing at each other, their characters are sharing a moment as they find themselves drawn to one another, wide-eyed, nervous, a little bit shy and all at once excited to have found one another.

In addition to Redmayne, Seyfried and Barks, Les Miserables stars Anne Hathaway, Amanda Seyfried, Hugh Jackman, Helena Bonham Carter, Russell Crowe and Sacha Baron Cohen. The film arrives in theaters December 25. More information, photos and video can be found in our Blend Film Database.
