Les Miserables Poster Shows Sacha Baron Cohen And Helena Bonham Carter As The Thenardiers

Fans of Les Miserables have likely been waiting anxiously to get a look at Helena Bonham Carter and Sacha Baron Cohen together in character as the Thenardiers in the highly anticipated feature adaptation of the beloved musical, based on Victor Hugo's novel. We've seen the other leads in the trailers and previously released character posters. And now, less than two months from the release of the Tom Hooper-directed musical, we have our first look at Thenardier and Madame Thenardier together!
"Welcome, Monsieur. Sit yourself down. And meet the best innkeeper in town…"
Huffington Post shared the new character poster (along with one of Marius and Cosette), which shows Sacha Baron Cohen and Helena Bonham Carter as the abusive and villainous (but also strangely comical) innkeepers.
The holly in Madame's hair seems especially fitting, given the Christmas release date for the film. And assuming the film follows along the lines of the characters as they're portrayed in the musical, not to mention the actors who are playing these roles, it seems likely that these two will offer a bit of comic relief in what will otherwise be a very emotional story.
For reference and for those of you who now have "Master of the House" stuck in your heads, here are the Thenardiers singing the duet for the Les Mis 25th anniversary concert:
In addition to Sacha Baron Cohen and Helena Bonham Carter, Les Miserables also stars Hugh Jackman, Russell Crowe, Anne Hathaway, Amanda Seyfried, Eddie Redmayne and Aaron Tveit. Les Miserables arrives in theaters December 25. More information, photos and video can be found in our Blend Film Database.
