Letters From Iwo Jima Moved To December
I guess Clint Eastwood couldn't stand the thought of a year without a shot at Oscar. So, now that it looks like his Flags of our Fathers won't be up for Awards consideration, he's moved up the release date of the other half of his Iwo Jima story Letters from Iwo Jima. By that I don't mean that Flags doesn't qualify, it does. It's just that no one liked it.
I have hope that Letters may be better though, and apparently someone over at Warners agrees. It had been slated for a February release, but it's been moved up to December 20 to allow it to qualify for Academy Awards consideration.
The only negative here is that the next month or so of this year is already jam packed with quality pictures. It'll be easy for Letters to be lost in the shuffle.
