Linklater Craves Fast Food
Hold the fries-- do you want a gastic bypass surgery with that?
With obesity, gluttony, and overall inactivity on the rise, it seems appropriate for Eric Schlosser's controversial non-fiction book "Fast Food Nation" to be adapted for the big screen. According to Variety, Richard Linklater (Dazed & Confused) is wearing the director's cap for the project. Joining him will be Maria Full Of Grace actress Catalina Sandido Moreno in the leading role. Perhaps she wants to be surrounded by junk food after all of the enormous grapes she swallowed in her previous film.
The novel "Fast Food Nation", is an inside peek into the corrupt and unsanitary means by which the fast food industry is run. It was enough to make me sick to my stomach, and I hope the film reaches out to audiences the same way that Morgan Spurlock's Super Size Me documentary did last year. What I am unsure about is how they can turn an expose without a lead character, into an interesting and coherent feature film. Time will tell.
