Lionsgate Buys Unreleased Videogame
Lionsgate is getting in on the videogame movie business. Variety reports they’ve just purchased the movie rights to and Eidos Interactive game called Kane & Lynch: Dead Men. Never heard of it? That’s because it hasn’t been released yet.
Now buying up the film rights to books before they’re released is pretty common practice for Hollywood. But then book to movie adaptations have been successful since almost the first moving pictures. Videogames on the other hand… well perhaps someone should actually make one that people like before studios start buying up game titles that don’t even exist yet. Come on, that’s just common sense.
The game does sound interesting though, if by interesting you mean just like every other game. It’s the story of a mercenary named Kane paired with a schizo named Lynch. They meet while being transported to death row, are broken out of jail by Kane’s former team, and then forced to go on a mission to retrieve Kane’s hidden loot. That’s probably all just an excuse for a lot of running and shooting though. You don’t make mercenary treasure hunting game about hugging.
The game is described as a third person shooter with co-op play. Watch a trailer for the Kane and Lynch: Dead Men game by clicking play on the vid below:
