After making some of the worst movies in recent memory, the busy-beaver Wayans brothers are going to be back again with a new comedy based on their own comic book. Marlon, Shawn, and Keenan Ivory Wayans will write and produce Super Bad James Dynomite for Rogue Pictures. Variety reports that Marlon Wayans will star as the title character.
Variety describes the Dynomite character as ”an inner-city antihero reminiscent of blaxploitation staples Shaft, Dolemite and Black Belt Jones. Framed by a rival and sent away for a long prison stretch, he returns hopelessly out of step. He must regain his cool and try to take down the man who framed him.” I think I liked this character better when he was called Austin Powers.
The story doesn’t list a director, but my money is on Kennan Ivory Wayans, who also helmed Little Man and White Chicks. Both of those movies were steaming piles of dog waste and there isn’t much to indicate this movie will be any different. It makes me sad, since I really loved “In Living Color” and wish Kennan would hook up with some other actors and make a good comedy, since he clearly has the talent to do so.
