Mandalay Questions Your God
Mandalay Independent Pictures has picked up the rights to mystery novel “Salvation Boulevard” by Larry Beinhart. George Ratcliff (Joshua ) will adapt the script as well as direct. Variety describes the story as revolving around “a private detective who investigates the killing of a professor. The exercise proves to be a clash of faiths: The detective is a born-again Christian, the dead man an atheist, the accused killer an Islamic foreign student and the D.A. is Jewish.” Sounds like a religious version of Crash. And guess who is the head honcho at Mandalay-- Crash Oscar winning producer Cathy Schulman! There are no coincidences in Tinsel Town!
But really, this sounds very interesting – I mean in the sense that I want to start betting on how long it takes the various religious groups to protest or ban this project (This means you Vatican! Woot woot!). But what if Salvation Boulevard manages to bring all the major religions together in protest? And then we can all get along because Ludacris did not properly representing Atheists or Ryan Phillipe did not portray Born-Agains in a positive light? This movie could potentially solve all the world’s problems. I’ll never doubt you again Cathy Shulman.
