With Without A Trace canceled, now's the time for Marianne Jean-Baptiste to get back into the movie game. Though she earned an Oscar nomination for her role in the 1996 film Secrets & Lies, Jean-Baptise has only had one feature role in the past two years, and that was in the Godawful dreck known as Takers. Now it's time for that to change.

Black Voices reports that Marianne Jean-Baptiste has been cast in the Geoffrey Fletcher film Violet & Daisy. Fletcher's follow up after winning the Oscar for his Precious adaptation, the film stars Saoirse Ronan and Alexis Bledel as a pair of teenage assassins who end up in over their heads when a mark, played by James Gandolfini, is not what they expected. Speaking with Fletcher, he said that Jean-Baptiste's character is named Number 1 and described her as an "other worldly, shape-shifting assassin."

From what I've read about the project, it sounds like a lot of fun and Fletcher has assembled a top-notch cast to go to war with. Now that Jean-Baptiste is off the small screen, it's time for her to show her skills on the big screen again and I personally can't wait.
