The above video went up on the Maze Runner Facebook page today, following the wrap-up of the big Live Twitter Chat that took place. Leading up to the big event, fans were treated to a number of character cards, which give us an up-close look at the cast in character for the film. That includes this one, which shows us Thomas Brodie-Sangster (Game of Thrones, Love Actually), who plays Newt one of the Gladers in the story.
Based on a book by James Dashner, The Maze Runner begins when a teen named Thomas (Dylan O'Brien) arrives in a mysterious walled community called The Glade, with no memory of who he is or how he got there. The only thing he knows is his name. He's greeted by a community of other teen boys, each of whom arrived in similar fashion over the course of the past two years. We shared some of the previously released character cards, including O'Brien's the other day. The others that have come in include the lone female character among the Gladers, Teresa, played by Kaya Scodelario.
In the book, Teresa shows up a day after Tomas. The close proximity of her arrival to Thomas' added to the fact that she's the first girl to ever show up in the elevator causes some people to be suspicious that she might have something to do with Thomas. But since no one remembers who they are, coming to any solid conclusions is a bit tricky, to say the least.
Ki Hong Lee plays Minho, one of the runners of the Gladers.
Runners spend their days entering the giant maze that's opened up to the Glade each morning, looking for a way out. It's a grueling job, and a dangerous one, especially if a runner is caught in the maze over night when the grievers come out.
Someone asked about the grievers during the Twitter chat, but directer Wes Ball wouldn't give much away, but his description sounds about on par with the book...
Always up for cooking up something to eat is Frypan, played by Dexter Darden…
While Frypan keeps the cooks, Winston (Alex Flores) keeps the Butchers of the group…
There are butchers and cooks, so what do they have to eat? Cows, maybe? According to the Twitter chat, it sounds like the cows on set weren't big fans of the Grievers…
Here's the character card for Ben, a Glader who goes through "the changing" at the start of the book, not long after Thomas arrives.
The changing is what happens to a person when they're stung by a Griever. It's not a pleasant experience, and it can be fatal.
Finally, we have Aml Ameen as Alby, the leader of the Gladers.
