McTiernan Makes Exchange
He hasn’t been asked to do the next Die Hard flick, so McTiernan is moving on to other action movies. Production Weekly confirms McTiernan has signed to make Deadly Exchange, a film that could prove highly controversial.
According to the PW story, the movie is about a terrorist who comes to the United States to hunt down the FBI agent responsible for killing his family. That agent is put in charge of locating the terrorist, but to throw a monkey wrench in the plot, the terrorist falls in love with the FBI agent’s daughter. Whatever will happen?
I’m interested to see what changes happen between this stage and the actual bringing of the film to the screen. I can’t imagine how popular a movie is going to be that has an anti-American terrorist as the hero and an FBI agent as the villain. Hopefully McTiernan can avoid making a political commentary, rebound from his recent duds (Rollerball) and deliver another explosive film like his early career.
