Meet Now You See Me's Four Horsemen In This Magical Opening Sequence Clip
If Gob Bluth taught us anything, aside form how to make a Segway look like a cool mode of transportation (cool when cruising next to a set of stairs, anyway), it's that magic isn't a "trick." It's an "illusion." And we saw quite a few of those in the extended clip from Now You See Me, which clocks in at nearly four minutes and comes courtesy of Fandango. Of course, it cuts out of us right as Isla Fisher is about to get devoured by piranhas. Something tells me she's going to find a way out of that situation.
Trick or illusion, it looks like varying degrees of scamming to me, with Dave Franco's character ripping off a guys wallet, while Woody Harrelson's manages to get some money out of a guy with a bit of blackmail-tinted hypnotism. Jesse Eisenberg may be in it for the ladies, and Fisher's seems to be all for show. And all of it is for our entertainment.
As a fan of great magic tricks illusions, and the entire cast of this movie, I'm really hoping Now You See Me lives up to its potential. The film is directed by Louis Leterrier and centers on a super-team of the world's greatest illusionists, known as "The Four Horsemen." The above illusions look like small potatoes compared to the series of heists this group pulls off against corrupt business leaders during their performances, which involve showering stolen money on their audiences and avoiding the law in the process. We got a glimpse of that in the trailer for the film.
Now You See Me arrives in theaters May 31. Read all about Katey's trip to the set of the film here.
