Meet The Official Suicide Squad Team
Star Wars has generated a ton of whispers, rumors and arguments over the past few, but oddly, I’m not sure any film has produced a wider range of strange articles than Suicide Squad. The villain team-up was first announced back in September, and in the time since, it has spit out a steady stream of names. Well, as usual, it turns out some of those names were spot-on and some of them were hogwash.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the men and women who made the cut are Will Smith, Tom Hardy, Jared Leto, Margot Robbie, Cara Delevingne and Jai Courtney. It’s unclear how exactly DC Comics and Warner Bros is planning to pay all of these people, but thankfully, that’s none of our concern. Instead, we can all focus on getting pumped up about the final product.
Let’s meet the team…
Will Smith As Deadshot
Deadshot is a skilled assassin and criminal mastermind with one of the more tragic backstories in the entire comic book world. He accidentally shot his brother while trying to take out his abuse, good for nothing father. Given Will Smith’s personality, we can probably expect this version of the character to be a fast-talker who is good with people.
Jared Leto As The Joker
Immediately following the release of The Dark Knight, it was assumed we wouldn’t see another version of The Joker for quite awhile. After all, who would possibly want to follow in the shoes of Heath Ledger, who won a posthumous Oscar for one of his epic final roles. Jared Leto, however, has all the momentum in the world coming off his own Oscar victory. He’s also long proven to be a man who makes unusual and interesting decisions. So, the fiendish clown and criminal mastermind it is.

Tom Hardy As Rick Flag
Rick Flag is the leader of the Suicide Squad. He’s not the biggest fan of a lot of the members and has a very complicated moral relationship with what the team is doing. He’s got a pretty good heart though and he should provide a different perspective from what we’ll get with the other anti-heroes. Tom Hardy should also prove perfect for the world as the straighter arrow who is physically intimidating.
Margot Robbie As Harley Quinn
Harley Quinn is one of the coolest comic book characters ever written. On the outside, she’s an extremely sexy and seductive villain, but underneath, she’s the special kind of sociopath that is endlessly fascinating. She’s deadly. She’s perverse, and her on-again, off-again relationship with The Joker should provide some great comedic moments for the film.
Jai Courtney As Boomerang
Is Jai Courtney having a pretty epic five year stretch or what? He keeps finding his way in these mega-projects. Fortunately for fans, he should be perfect here as Boomerang (a.k.a. Captain Boomerang), an ex-professional baseball player who was forced out of the league for accepting bribes. If done incorrectly, the villain could come off incredibly goofy, but we’ll just have to trust director David Ayer that he knows what he’s doing. Besides, considering how many different comic characters he could have chosen from, he must see something special here.
Cara Delevingne As Enchantress
Enchantress is a pretty terrifying sorceress with a weird thing for duct tape. She can heal people. She can walk through walls. She’s incredibly powerful, but exactly how many of those powers Suicide Squad will choose to use is unclear. Considering model Cara Delevingne is playing her, there’s also the possibility DC will choose to ramp up the sex to 11 here too. We’ll just have to see.
