Last week in a press release sent out to the media, Michael Moore’s next movie was announced. It was described as if it were a sequel to Fahrenheit 9/11 and on his official site you can see a news item lifted from Variety which flatly says it is a follow-up, but now Moore himself has come out to say that’s simply not so.

The LA Times says Moore has been at Cannes talking up his new movie, which is now tentatively titled While America Slept (though elsewhere he jokingly called it Bush Be Gone). They claim he told them that the movie is not a sequel to F911. F911 was a movie mostly about President Bush, while he says this film will tackle an entirely different topic: America’s global conduct and reputation. Hey America, Michael Moore is going to tell you why everyone hates you.

The odd thing is that even while he says the movie isn’t about Bush and isn’t a sequel to Fahrenheit, he then launches into a spiel about how evil Bush is. Maybe this isn’t a direct sequel to Fahrenheit 9/11, but from the sounds of it, the film will end up following up on a lot of the things touched on in the first movie. Hopefully, this time he can do it without the manipulative, over the top, doom and gloom voiceovers.
