Oh all right I’m sure you want to know what I’m so excited about, but I’ll have to be quick about it, I have goats to slaughter damn it.
Hayao Miyazaki has begun production on a new film!!! Ever since Princess Mononoke there has been a semi-morbid anticipation for next new Miyazaki film, a sort of “Yes we get one more.” Followed by the dark proclamation of “Could be his last.” Well prepare to say it again, “Yes we get one more!” Now some will tell you that you shouldn’t get too excited about the new Miyazaki, after all his last one Howl’s Moving Castle” was merely great instead of fantabulous. Maybe he’s losing his touch. The fact remains that Miyaziki is one of the (very) few filmmakers who I can say literally never made a bad film, and keep a straight face. He’s never once made me apologize, and until the unfathomable day that he does, I will look forward to his films with nothing less than unabashed enthusiasm.
The story of the film is being kept underwraps but Production Weelky claims that the storyboards are done, production has started, and the film is scheduled to be completed in Summer of 2008.
“Yes we get one more.”
Hell yeah.
