Molly Shannon Leads The Pack
Transitioning from TV into movies proves a difficult feat for many comedy stars of Saturday Night Live (sorry, Jimmy Fallon). While her Superstar movie made her anything but, Molly Shannon has tackled several bit parts in movies and especially TV, from ‘Scrubs’ to ‘Sex and the City’. Is a newly announced break her calling card to big screen success?
According to Hollywood Reporter, Shannon is in final negotiations to star in the comedy Year of the Dog for Paramount’s new specialty division. The film marks the directorial debut of writer Mike White (School of Rock), who wrote the script with Molly in mind.
The Year of the Dog is about a jolly secretary named Peggy, who lives alone with her beloved dog, Pencil. When Pencil randomly drops dead, Peggy is distraught and embarks on a journey of change. We can expect lots of silly situations to ensue.
