Monday Movie Memo: Guardians Of The Galaxy 2 Needs To Do This
Yes, yes. We know that James Gunn and Marvel Studios have barely completed their victory lap for Guardians of the Galaxy, which opened to a massive $94 million – good for a new record for an August opening (ahead of the previous record holder, 2007’s The Bourne Ultimatum).
We’re already looking ahead to Guardians of the Galaxy 2.
To be fair, so is James Gunn, who mentioned – in this Thank You letter to fans – that he spent the weekend mapping out his sequel, Guardians of the Galaxy 2. In an effort to help him along, I came up with three things I really need to see in the second Guardians adventure. They are discussed in the Monday Movie Memo.
Even if you thought Guardians of the Galaxy would succeed, I’m not sure you could have predicted the enormous number the movie would do. This is a huge vote of confidence for Marvel Studios, and it means that the company should SHATTER the bank when The Avengers: Age of Ultron opens next May.
