More Femme Fatales For The Spirit
I’m not sure how comic book author Frank Miller is going to be as a film director, but if nothing else his movie will be good to look at. His adaptation of The Spirit, based on the grandfather of all comic books by Will Eisner, already had a cast that bragged Scarlett Johansson, Eva Mendes, and Sarah Paulson. Now those lovely ladies are joined by Paz Vega (Spanglish) and Jamie King (Sin City).
The two actresses join the rogue’s gallery for Will Eisner’s creation. Vega will play a knife-wielding assassin known as Plaster of Paris, while King will play a phantom siren named Lorelei, reports Variety.
The movie, currently in production, stars Gabriel Macht in the title role as a rookie cop who comes back from the dead to fight the dark underworld of crime. His primary opponent in the movie is supposed to be Octopus, played by Samuel L. Jackson, but more and more I’m looking forward to the time that Jackson isn’t on screen and instead Miller’s version of Fox Force Five is. The Spirit is currently slated for a Januar, 2009 release from Lionsgate.
