More Non-News On Bubba Nosferatu
Discussion of the long awaited sequel to Bubba Ho-Tep is going around again. Every time we hear word about Bubba Nosferatu: Curse of the She-Vampires I become more and more certain this picture isn’t going to happen.
Last time we heard about the movie, it was during a Bruce Campbell promotional tour where he announced that he wasn’t sure where things stood with Bubba Nosferatu and that the only thing he knew about the project was that he wasn’t going to be involved. No word came from anyone else involved though, particularly director Don Coscarelli.
Now it’s two months later and the latest word is that Bruce is the hold up for the movie moving forward. /film reports that Paul Giamatti is still on board to play Col. Parker, but Giamatti says, “Bruce Campbell was waffling around about whether he wants to play Elvis or not again. So that’s the problem.”
So… two months ago Campbell said he wasn’t involved, and now we get a story that says he’s waffling. Does this mean there’s still hope for Bubba Nosferatu or does this mean the project is just spinning wheels until it’s dead? And where is Coscarelli through all of this? He seems to be the one voice we’re still not hearing from. Is that because he’s moved on or is he still trying to make this work? Until we hear from the director, I’m afraid I’m going to count Bubba Nosferatu down and out, because it certainly doesn’t seem to be happening the way most fans had hoped.
