More Remake Madness
Hollywood continues it’s cannibalistic tendencies, and no, I’m not talking about Pirates of the Carribean II. Despite being accused of misrepresenting native Carib cultures, the movie industry has bigger fish to fry. Following the disappointing news that an Exorcist remake was in the works comes indications that director Michael Bay has similar plans in his future.
Bay told the folks at IGN FilmForce that after wrapping up work on his current project, a remake of The Amityville Horror, he’ll be moving on to produce a Texas Chainsaw Massacre prequel. He’ll follow that up with yet another remake, this time of the 1986 horror flick The Hitcher. No word yet if the brilliantly creepy Rutger Hauer will reprise his role as the Hitchhiker.
Until the remake/prequel parade rolls out in the next couple of years, we can at least look forward to The Island, Bay’s current sci-fi thriller project starring Ewan McGregor and Scarlett Johansson. That is, until we discover it’s actually a remake of The Matrix in disguise.
